What is Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a complete, web-based, business management solution, hosted by Microsoft. It includes: Sales, Purchasing, Inventory, Finance and Project Management. It is an excellent Cloud option for new startups. It fully integrates with Office 365. You can even use Outlook to create Quotes, Orders and Invoices as well as Workflow Approvals. There are hundreds of Apps (extensions) that add functionality to Business Central located on Microsoft AppSource.

The design and functionality for Business Central is based on Navision, which was one of Microsoft's four Accounting/ERP Solutions purchased in 2002. Navision (NAV) has been known for its ability to be deeply customized, using its built-in programming language (C/AL). One could say that Business Central is NAV for the Cloud. Its underlying programming language is AL or Application Language, which is an expanded version of C/AL from NAV. This ERP product is a software developer's dream. The source code for the entire program was written by Microsoft in AL (Application Language) and all serious custom software development is also written in AL. Microsoft is devoting huge development resources to Business Central. Every month more and more integrating applications are being added to the Microsoft Appsource Marketplace.
